Project Genesis and Amethyst Homes are seeking to submit a detailed planning application for the development of the sixth and final phase of the Regents Park site.

​

The housing proposed in this development will include 71 homes, including 10% Affordable Homes, along with associated access, landscaping and open space.

​

Who are Project Genesis and Amethyst Homes?

Project Genesis

The Project Genesis Trust was formed in 1994 as a registered charity to regenerate the site of the former Consett Steelworks and reinvest the funds from the development in the provision of environmental, recreational and social benefits to local people.

 

The County Durham Plan states: “The important role of Project Genesis in continuing to bring forward further development in the future is recognised, as are the benefits it has to the community of Consett both socially and economically and in terms of regenerating the built and natural environment” (Paragraph 4.38).

The application site forms part of a wider allocation as the Project Genesis site.  Development of the site is designed to support the continued work of the Trust, delivering regeneration in Consett and much needed new homes.

Amethyst Homes
